Being a good magician is not about the tricks. It’s not about the laughs. It’s not about the applause.
It’s about the connection.
It’s the ability to create and share a moment with a group of people that makes a magician stand out, and that’s what David has been working on since he walked into the Glasgow School of Magic over 20 years ago.
“Magic is personal, for the audience and the performer,” David notes. “Everything I do as a performer is about making that moment memorable for everyone it touches. Whether I am at a VIP event or teaching someone their first magic trick on Zoom, I always want to create a sense of emotion and connection.”
David’s career as a magician has taken many exciting twists and turns, but after the global pandemic disrupted everyone’s lives David realises the timeless and beautiful value of his craft.
“Covid-19 has made me realise that people need to connect and laugh together now more than ever” he confesses. “I love being a part of making that happen.”
A good magician makes you forget your worries and remember what joy feels like.
David sparks curiosity, creates moments of joy and connects people together which more important now than ever before.
Based in Manchester and available for events worldwide (via Zoom for now, but via planes, trains and automobiles in future), David’s focus for the foreseeable future is to bring joy and laughter to everyone he meets and works with.
“Magicians are not doctors, but we do know a fair bit about the human condition,” he admits. “And we know how hard the last year has been. Whatever the future holds, I believe we need a lot of uplifting, heart-warming experiences to knit us all back together. Magicians like myself would love to create that for people.”
When David is not working as a magician, he works as a specialist hospital performer. As a Giggle Doctor/Magic Maker he visits children in hospitals across England and also as the Resident Magician on a Teenage and Young Adult oncology ward. He is also the co-creator of Around The Box with his wife Alice and their four children.
He would love to work with you to bring magical moments to your event, your wedding or simply your front room. If you use the contact form below he’ll get back to you right away with some ideas.
